1 Peter 1:16

Because it is written, "Be holy for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16 NKJV. What does it mean to be holy? What does it look like? Is it possible to achieve this? I would like to have everyone who reads this post their answers to the above questions. I will post some thoughts as well, but do not want the comments to all be "I agree" or "I disagree because_____." So I will post my thoughts in a few days.

Be holy b'c I am holy - I believe means to be complete or mature. To strive for who God is and what He does in this world. To not be constrained by ourselves, our foibles - but to grow up in Christ and to seek Him and what He would have us do in this life.

Tommy, as I stated on your facebook. To be holy as I am holy can only be accomplished through Christ. As we cannot accomplish that on our own. So though we can strive to be holy, we won't be complete until Christ Jesus comes back for His people. Then we will recieve our glorified bodies. On our own again will only bring about a false righteousness. Though through Christ all things are possible.
